We were already aware in the 1950s and 1960s of the added value of an abundance of greenery in residential districts. Zones like the Western Garden Cities of Amsterdam were built with park-like areas between the housing blocks. By now these districts are ripe for renewal. The redesign of the greenery offers an opportunity to implement attractive residential environments in the city. De groene kracht is an investigation of the future of greenery in the postwar suburbs.
