Het woongebouw presents some 70 designs of residential buildings that have become architectural classics and more recent housing complexes. The central theme of the book is the practice of stacking residential units in blocks. The classic buildings were chosen because they have provided inspiration for more recent projects, some of which are reproductions of the old design but most of which are a variation on the theme. The designs are classified by category, e.g., the block shape, access and the cross section, and by functional aspects, such as the layout of the residential unit and the number of residents per unit.

About the author: Jasper van Zwol is a lecturer in the Architectural Design Department (Dwelling chair) of the Faculty of Architecture at Delft University of Technology.
