Jane Worthington: Designing Life

Jane Worthington

Industrial designer Jane Worthington (1969, UK) graduated from the highly acclaimed De Monfort University in 1990 and immediately moved to Holland to join Philips Design, where she remained until 1995. During that period, she worked with Alexandro Mendini at his studio in Milan on important design projects such as Television at the Crossroads and the Café for the Domotechnica Fair for the Philips-Alessi line. She was also responsible for the design of the complete headphone range for which she received a design prize for the sbc333 headphone series.

After 1995, Worthington gradually moved her design emphasis away from electronic goods to furniture and currently works for leading international manufacturers in Switzerland, the Netherlands and Belgium. Functional, innovative and sculptural figuration are key features to her award-winning work for the Sede, which has been included in the International Design Yearbook 2003. Her work has been exhibited worldwide (Pompidou Centre in Paris, Magna Pars in Milan, Evoluon in Eindhoven, MAK in Vienna, DAZ in Berlin, The National Gallery, Prague). In Designing Life, Jane Worthington will not only show us her creations, but she will also take the reader on a tour throughout her house, talk about her inspiration sources and give tips regarding design, decorating and even designing food. A personal book that gives a inside view in the world of a top designer.
