Henk Engel Ed(s)

Series: OverHolland

OverHolland 10/11 describes the transformation of the landscape of the west of the Netherlands from the 9th to the 21st century on the basis of six maps and an explanatory text. This issue also contains articles by Nikki Brand, Kim Zweerink, Esther Gramsbergen, Freek Schmidt and Roberto Cavallo. Over Holland 10/11 concludes with two book reviews.

The study 'Twelve centuries of spatial transformation in the western Netherlands' is the main topic of this issue of OverHolland. It is part of the research programme Mapping Randstad Holland. This programme focuses on the long-term development of the Randstad region in the west of the Netherlands. Both the spatial transformation and the underlying historical processes are charted at three levels: the regional, urban and architectural scale.

About the series: OverHolland is published by the Faculty of Architecture of the Delft University of Technology and contains studies on the architecture of the towns and cities of the provinces of Holland (Noord- and Zuid-Holland).

About the editor: Henk Engel is an architect and partner in De Nijl Architects in Rotterdam. He is associate professor of Architectural Design at the Faculty of Architecture, Delft University of Technology.

This publication has been made possible through funding by the Netherlands Architecture Fund and the Delft University of Technology.
