Since mid-February 2001 an editorial board composed of Hrvoje Bakran, Zdravko Krasic, Vladimir Mattioni and Drazen Plevko, along with numerous contributors, triggered the e-zine called urbanizam.net. During the 20-month duration of the site, the number of visitors was constantly rising, and in the end climbed to nearly five thousand visitors a month. Only 30% of visitors were from Croatia, while the vast majority were from all over the world. urbanizam.net was the winner of the award "Oscar" magazine "see" for 2001.

The book is structured into groups of papers dealing with particular areas such as global/local relations, transition conditions, the development of the Adriatic islands, the future of large urban systems, a new public space and art in the urban context.
